Hard to believe another baseball season has already started and is underway, and we are thrilled to begin serving in the cities we play and in our hometown of Lafayette, Indiana. While the cities we play in continue to change, as we are now in Texas, we are determined to serve move forward with our mission, to impact and make a difference in the lives of those around us. We again look forward to embracing a new city, new team and new fans. We are eager to get involved and find a way to serve in Christ, in our new Texas communities. This season’s programs are already in full swing and we will continue to update you throughout the season.

The Answer the Call Program will continue this season and funds will be donated to Food Finders of Tippecanoe County to support the amazing programs that they are implementing in Lafayette & West Lafayette, Indiana. In particular, the Josh Lindblom Foundation strongly supports the Backpack Program that provides food for kids in the local schools on the weekends. Other organizations supported by this program include, the Dream Center in Los Angeles, California, and an organization in the state of Texas.

*While the organization in Texas has yet to be determined, we are on the search for the perfect organization for the Josh Lindblom Foundation to partner with this season*

The new program for the 2013 Season is the Share Our Dream Program. This program is in partnership with the Dream Center in Los Angeles, California, and allows a group of individuals to visit the Dream Center on a Short Term Mission Trip, fully funded by the Josh Lindblom Foundation. We are thrilled to introduce our first group that will be visiting the Dream Center in June. Rock Point Church of Crawfordsville, Indiana, is sending a group of 25-30 individuals to the Dream Center to serve the city of Los Angeles. We cannot wait to hear about their experience when they return.

The Charity Game Night  hosted over 300 generous attendees that had the opportunity to bid on amazing items in both the silent and live auction, as well as play fun casino games throughout the evening.  The event allowed for the Josh Lindblom Foundation to present a check for $25,000 to benefit the local BackPack Program of Tippecanoe County and $5,000 to Vision of Hope, a residential treatment center in Lafayette for women in Crisis.

The donation to the BackPack Program will specifically be used to fund children’s backpacks in Tippecanoe County. The backpacks are filled with six to eight pounds of food and are sent home with eligible children on Friday. Children are selected for the program by teachers and school administrators based on their risk of going hungry at home. The students also have to be recipients of the federal free and reduced (price) school lunch program, which is an indicator of poverty.

The Lindblom Foundation was able to make donations to two amazing organizations in the Lafayette & West Lafayette communities. donation will help Food Finders keep serving 3,800 children (in kindergarten through third) each week throughout 16 counties, including Tippecanoe County.

The foundation raised the money during its second annual charity game night in December. The game night also raised funds for Vision of Hope, a residential treatment center in Lafayette for women in crisis.

JOSH LINDBLOM FOUNDATION TO HOST SECOND ANNUAL CHARITY GAME NIGHT TO BENEFIT VISION OF HOPE & THE TIPPECANOE COUNTY BACKPACK PROGRAM

  The Josh Lindblom Foundation will host its 2^nd Annual Charity Game Night at the Lafayette Theater in downtown Lafayette, Indiana,  on December 8, 2012 at 6:30 pm.

This year’s event benefits Vision of Hope, a residential treatment center for women, which is part of Faith Church ministry located in Lafayette and the Tippecanoe County Backpack Program.

The event will feature live and silent auction items donated by local businesses and major league baseball teams and players. Some of the featured items include a Philadelphia Getaway, Orlando and Disney World Trips, autographed Luke Bryan Guitar, concert tickets, baseball memorabilia and spa packages. Josh and Aurielle Lindblom will host the event with help from Auctioneer J. Alan Goetz.

On November 17th and 18th, Josh Lindblom will attend the Purdue University Dance Marathon at the Recreational Sports Center on Purdue University’s Campus in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Purdue University Dance Marathon was established in 2005. Over the years, PUDM has raised almost $1,000,000 for the kids and families at Riley Hospital for Children. Specifically, the money raised by PUDM goes towards the Cancer Center and Camp Riley. PUDM has grown from having only 100 dancers in its first year, to over 1100 in the November 2011 marathon. Dance Marathon is, and always has been, student run.

As Purdue University Alumni, both Josh and Aurielle Lindblom will attend PUDM and discuss the Josh Lindblom Foundation’s efforts in the West Lafayette/Lafayette, Indiana, communities. Also, an autograph session with Josh Lindblom and the Riley Hospital patients will take place throughout the evening.

New Day, New Town, New Team

 A lot has happened in the last 24 hours. As many of you know, we are no longer in Los Angeles or a part of the Dodger Organization. We have been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, and are packing our bags and heading to the East Coast.

We are truly going to miss our baseball family and friends in Los Angeles.  We have spent the past 4 years with the Dodger Organization and have shared the struggles and happy times together with our many teammates and friends. They will forever be a part of our hearts and we look forward to seeing them and playing against them in the future.

Our LA Dream Center Family has become our brothers and sisters in Christ. The bonds we have shared will be forever. We have built relationships with many individuals and had the opportunity to serve alongside the Dream Center in the Los Angeles community. We will always be a part of the Dream Center and will support their ministry. That being said, we will continue our commitment to this season’s  “Answer the Call Program” to benefit the LA Dream Center while we finish our season in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

The continued support from the Dodger Fans and friends have inspired us to move forward with our mission, to impact and make a difference in the lives of those around us and in the community in which we live. We look forward to embracing a new city, new team and new fans. We will continue to serve by the mission “finding the need and Philling it” while in Philadelphia, just as we learned in Los Angeles from Pastor Matthew Barnett at the Dream Center. We are eager to get involved and find a way to serve in Christ, in our new community.

Josh Lindblom Foundation Launch at Dodger Stadium

 On June 13, 2012, the Josh Lindblom Foundation was officially launched at Dodger Stadium. In attendance for the before game ceremony was staff, interns, and Discipleship members from the Dream Center in Los Angeles. We are truly thankful for the continued support from the Dream Center.

This 2012 baseball Season, the Josh Lindblom Foundation has partnered with the Los Angeles Dream Center through the Answer the Call Program. The Dream Center is a volunteer driven organization that finds and fills the needs of individuals and families through its programs and outreach ministries. Located in the heart of Los Angeles, these ministries serve over 40,000 individuals in the area per month.

Through the Answer the Call Program this season, not only is the Josh Lindblom Foundation aiding the Dream Center through donation, but also by time spent serving with the many ministries and outreach programs that are offered.

The Josh Lindblom Foundation created the Answer the Call Program that began Opening Day, April 5, 2012. 

As a pitcher sitting in the bullpen, the wait for the phone to ring is the opportunity to make an appearance and impact in a game situation. The opportunity to play baseball for a living is a platform that God has given us to make an impact the lives of those around us. We have realized our biggest call in life is to have a lasting influence, help provide opportunities, support dreams, and be a positive influence.

The Josh Lindblom Foundation is Answering the Call  by helping the Los Angeles Dream Center, a charitable organization located less than 2 miles from Dodger Stadium, rescue people out of homelessness, poverty, addiction and trafficking.

Why the Los Angeles Dream Center?

Our goal this season is to help others “Answer Their Call.”  This program correlated with a book we recently read written by Pastor Matthew Barnett titled The Cause Within You. After hearing about the Dream Center on KLOVE radio, touring the Dream Center, and meeting Pastor Matthew Barnett and Dream Center staff, we realized that this was the perfect ministry to begin our partnership with in the Los Angeles area.

The Dream Center offers a variety of programs, outreach and ministry opportunities. The services and programs offered include:

• Residential rehabilitation programs for teens and adults
• Shelter for victims of human trafficking
• Transitional shelter for homeless families
• Mobile hunger relief and medical programs
• Foster care intervention outreach that works closely with Los Angeles County’s Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to keep families intact by delivering the required furnishings, clothing and food to assure that their homes meet DCFS standards.
• Programs such as adult basic education, job skills training, and life skills counseling are also available to homeless families and individuals continue to establish The Dream Center as a vital community development resource.

Their efforts are now impacting over 40,000 people each month, including community feeding and residential recovery programs.

We Invite you to Answer the Call with us and make a pledge this 2012 Baseball Season to raise awareness and funds for the Los Angeles Dream Center through the Josh Lindblom Foundation.

The Charity Game Night, presented by Hays and Sons Complete Restoration, hosted over 300 generous participants, including Indiana Senator, Ron Alting, and Lafayette Mayor, Tony Roswarski.  The event allowed for the Josh Lindblom Foundation to present a check for $20,000 to benefit the local BackPack Program.

Currently, Food Finders distributes over 3,500 backpacks each week throughout the 16-county service area.

We would like to thank all that came to our Kickoff Charity Game Night for their support and contributions to the Josh Lindblom Foundation’s efforts.
